Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 5: Hindu Rashtra Shakti, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, has urged the Central Government to sanction more than 100 IT posts across key departments of the Islands’ administration and to establish a dedicated Directorate of Information Technology to strengthen digital governance.
In a detailed proposal submitted by Mr. Rakeshwar Lall, State President of Hindu Rashtra Shakti, to the President of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other senior dignitaries including the Union Home Minister, the Railway and IT Ministers, the Lt. Governor of A&N Islands, and senior officials at the PMO and MHA, the organisation has highlighted what it described as a “glaring infrastructural gap” in the Islands’ IT workforce.
According to the representation, the absence of technical staff has led to serious delays in implementing key digital projects, poor maintenance of critical hardware and software, and vulnerabilities in handling sensitive citizen data. “This not only hampers the speed of governance but also affects the quality of services delivered to the public,” the letter noted.
The proposal has sought the immediate creation of posts such as IT Managers, Senior IT Analysts, and IT Analysts across departments including the Directorate of Panchayat, ANIIMS, Social Welfare, ANCOL, JNRM, Law College, Pay and Accounts Office, Marine Department, and others.
In addition, it has called for the creation of a centralised Directorate of Information Technology, headed by a Director-level officer, to streamline e-governance initiatives and provide unified policy direction. The proposal further recommends restructuring of the IT cadre with defined career progression to attract and retain skilled professionals in government service.
Shri Lall stressed that this initiative is in line with the BJP’s election manifesto commitments and the Prime Minister’s vision of Digital India. “Empowering the administration with a robust IT workforce is the urgent need of the hour. This will set the foundation for a digital revolution in these Islands,” he said.
The organisation has also requested the formation of a high-level committee to examine the proposal and prepare a time-bound implementation plan.
