Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 24: Mr. TSG Bhasker, Chairman of the Campaign Committee of ANTCC, has raised a pressing concern regarding the non-utilization of quota seats reserved for students of the A&N Islands in Pondicherry Central University and other affiliated institutions across mainland India.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of the A&N Administration, Mr. Bhasker highlighted that several seats in professional courses such as Engineering, Medical, Law, and Veterinary Sciences remain vacant each year due to lack of awareness or last-minute withdrawals by students.
Expressing particular concern over veterinary courses, Mr. Bhasker pointed out that many eligible and interested students from the islands miss out on opportunities to pursue veterinary education simply because they are unaware of available seats. This, he noted, is especially troubling considering the shortage of veterinary doctors in the islands.
Calling for immediate administrative intervention, Mr. Bhasker urged the Chief Secretary to initiate a proactive system to ensure that all reserved seats are filled, whether through improved outreach, counseling, or coordination with educational institutions.
He further recommended that the A&N Administration collaborate with Pondicherry Central University and other mainland colleges to monitor allotment trends and prevent future vacancies.
Mr. Bhasker concluded his appeal with the hope that these opportunities, vital for the development of the islands and the career growth of local students, are not lost due to systemic gaps.
