Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 14: In a significant move to strengthen industrial security, the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved increasing strength of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) from 1.62 lakh to 2.20 lakh personnel. This expansion supports India’s growing economy by enhancing CISF’s deployment in key sectors such as aviation, ports, nuclear and thermal power plants, hydropower projects, and jails in Jammu & Kashmir. With declining Left-Wing
Extremism states like Chhattisgarh, new Industrial hubs are expected, necessitating stronger CISF presence. In 2024, 13,230 personnel were recruited, with 24,098 more being recruited in 2025. CISF aims to induct around 14,000 personnel annually, encouraging greater youth and women participation. The increased strength enables the force to raise an additional battalion for internal security.
