Port Blair, Nov 14: Andaman Avians Club successfully conducts first of its kind in this UTAndaman Nicobar’s Bird Week this year 2022 as “ANI Bird Week” to mark the126th Birth Anniversary of the “Birdman Of India” Late. Dr. Salim MoizuddinAbdul Ali with a trending hashtag – #anibirdweekaac
The weeklong celebration was initiated with numbers of bird walk for theislanders and tourists in Diglipur by birder Ram Vikas , Rangat by birderD.Shekhar, Port Blair by AAC with BMC, PBMC, Katchal birder Chandralekha&Campbell Bay by birder G.Tikanna. An online mobile bird photographycompetition was also conducted on online platform themed on BIRDS, Mr.Prashant Sarthy was declared as the winner of the competition.
During this week, an Inter-club Bird Identification-cum-quiz competition was also organized for the club members. On 12th November a bird walk forKids with Parents was conducted in the Chidiyatapu Biological Park wherethe children’s sighted many endemic and resident birds and few raremigratory birds too. Mr. P. D. Prasad, Member AAC cycled 126 Km in andaround Port Blair to promote the message of “Save Wildlife”.
The event was concluded with an online webinar by Dr. Raju Kasambe,(Assistant Director- Education), BNHS, Mumbai on “Bird Migration a MagicalMoment”. The webinar was witnessed by many local naturalist, birders andthe club members.
