Port Blair, Dec 03: During deployment of Northern Group of Islands (NGI), on the occasion of Independence Day, Indian Naval Ship Bitra invited the Andaman Nicobar Police and Marine Force at Mayabandar for imparting training on rope work, chart work, radar and basic navigational aspects. The police personnel were familiarised with the various equipment onboard ship including ship’s Gemini and Rubberised Inflatable Boat.
The officers of the ship interacted with NCC cadets on the parade ground and were impressed by their turnout and drill. NCC cadets were invited for a familiarisation visit onboard ship. About 60 cadets from three colleges visited the ship. There was an organised walk around, Question & Answer sessions and a brief motivational talk. The feedback received from all the instructors / students was very encouraging.
Lunch was organised onboard, which was attended by personnel from A&N Police, APWD, NCC, District Forest Office and Deputy Commissioner’s Office. All personnel were explained about the ship’s role and the assistance that can provided by the Navy to the local population.
Such visits definitely enhance the outlook of students in areas where they get exposed to technology and the ethos of our armed forces. A Naval ship represents a Mini- Media in the cultural and regional diversity. The interaction of cadets with Indian Navy highly encouraged them to join Armed forces as well as to sail on a warship.
Andaman Nicobar Police and Marine force at Mayabandar found the visit to be very fruitful.
