Port Blair, Apr 08: Gram Panchayat Ramnagar in association with the Forest Division Diglipur organized a beach cleanliness and Plantation drive at Ramnagar Eco-Tourism Beach to mark the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” with the importance of cleanliness in the village and Planting of trees is especially important to protect our environment against air pollution and global warming.
The drive was inaugurated by Mr. Kuldeep Sharma (I.F.S), Divisional Forest Officer, Diglipur accompanied by Mr. Ajit John (Assistant Conservator of Forest Diglipur) and Mr. Alkab Hasan (Ranger Forest Officer Kalighat).
In the drive, 25 coconut trees were planted on the beachside by the PRIs and villagers of GP Ramnagar along with the staff of the forest division and beach cleaning was done by the youngsters of the village and all plastic waste was collected and shifted to the dumping yard of Gram Panchayat Ramnagar for its segregation.
Mr. Kuldeep Sharma (I.F.S) interacted with and seek public cooperation to protect the natural beauty of Ramnagar eco-tourism beach. The unique beauty of the Tortoise breeding culture and its hatchery and conserve the rare sighting of Lather back sea turtle found on Ramnagar beach during the season and this return will attract tourists to visit Ramanagar village and this will boost the economic condition and self-employment for the S.H.Gs and youths of the area.
He also informed that the forest division is ready to collect local seeds of food-bearing trees at Seed Bank available at all divisions and appeal to the villagers to come forward to donate the local seeds of food-bearing trees.
After his speech, the villagers gave a photo frame conveying their thanks to the forest division Diglipur.
In the end, a vote of thanks was conveyed by Ranger Kalighat Forest Divison.
