I am pleased to learn that the Andaman and Nicobar Islands is observing the “Animal Welfare Fortnight” from 14th to 30th January 2022 along with rest of the India to treat all animal life with kindness and compassion and to enhance virtues of kindness, justice and protection of all living creatures as the greatest contributing factor to maintain and restore the ecological balance.
Animal welfare is the well-being of non-human animals. Animals have contributed immensely for the welfare of human beings from the dawn of civilization. It is the obligation of human beings not to abuse and exploit animals for their greed. Every animal has the right to co-exist with us and should also be handled with love, compassion and care.
Respect for animal welfare is often based on the belief that non-human animals are sentient and that consideration should be given to their well-being and minimizing their suffering, especially when they are under the care of humans.
On this occasion, I extend my best wishes for success of “Animal Welfare Fortnight-2022” celebrations.
