Port Blair, Jan 13: A delegation of Andaman Association of Tour Operators led by President Mr M Vinod along with Mr PS Vijayan and Mr Saikat Biswas met the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration on Thursday. The delegation requested the Chief Secretary to consider re-opening of tourism activities in Andaman Islands following COVID protocols.
Mr M Vinod apprised Chief Secretary about the huge revenue loss and unemployment in the tourism Industry due to closure of tourism in these islands. Chief Secretary gave a patient hearing and assured to restart tourism as soon as the COVID situation is under control. He briefed the delegation about the control measures taken by A&N Administration to counter the pandemic.
Other issues related to tourism sector including simplification of IV boat survey procedure were also discussed with Chief Secretary .He also lauded the efforts of AATO in promoting tourism and assured full cooperation of A&N Administration to scale up tourism activities in A&N Islands.
