Port Blair, Oct 11: To celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsava, Dept. of Youth Affairs, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is undertaking “Clean India” Programme from 1st October to 31st October,2021. The programme is aimed at creating awareness, mobilization of people and ensuring their involvement in the Clean India initiative.
Today the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kamorta in collaboration with St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Kamorta organized Clean India Programme in which 45 people from different area participated. On the occasion cleanliness drive was conducted from near the residence of Assistant Commissioner, Nancowrie to the church. During the programme participants collected 40 kg single use plastic waste from the surrounding area and roadside. Fr. Ronald, Parish Priest was the chief guest and he administered swatchhta pledge to participants. And also he stressed on less use plastic materials. Shri Alphonce Toppo, Deputy Director (OSD), NYK, Kamorta proposed vote of thanks.
