Port Blair, Dec 01: In its continuous efforts of the District Administration to curb the menace of the illegal sale of liquor, a surprise inspection was carried out by the Excise team of Ferrargunj Tehsil at the premises of a shop. A total number of 17 sealed bottles and 02 nos. of open bottles of liquor were seized.
The Excise team of tehsil comprised of Excise Officer Mr. Sunil Kumar (Tehsildar), Excise Inspector Mr. A. Nazar, Mr. Ravi Kumar (Revenue Inspectors), Mr. Ineus, Mr. Chitti Babu (Patwaris) and Mr. Abdul Razaque, Choudhary. The matter was immediately informed to the Station House Officer and the seized bottles were handed over to the Police authorities for taking necessary actions under relevant provisions of law.
The accused in the case was produced before the SDM court and necessary action as per law has been taken against him.
The Deputy Commissioner (SA) requests the general public to inform the District Administration if anyone comes across information related to illegal sale of liquor/illicit liquor to the District Control over 1077/238881.
