I express my warm greetings to all the Islanders on the occasion of “National Consumer Day” on 24th December. It gives me immense pleasure to know that the Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs is celebrating National Consumer Day 2019 in these Islands along with the rest of the country.
This year the National Consumer Day – 2019 is being celebrated with the theme – “A turning point for Indian Consumers: the Consumer Protection Act 2019”. The National Consumer Day is an opportunity to promote and protect the basic rights and responsibilities of all consumers.
I call upon the people of these Islands to work together and participate in the celebrations in solidarity with consumer movement and update their knowledge about their rights as consumer on account of the changing technology and market trends.
I am sure that celebration of the “National Consumer Day- 2019” will help in raising the awareness level of citizens about their rights and responsibilities as consumers as envisaged under the Consumer Protection Act – 2019.
