Port Blair, Dec 23: The ABVP, Port Blair unit organised a study circle on “Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 in which Mr. Venkatesh Kumar Singh, Vice-president, ABVP elaborated the students about the act and stressed that the act is necessary for safeguarding the persecuted minority Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi, and Christian from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Further he cleared that the act was not against the Muslim Community as it is propagated by the people who were protesting against the act. The act is about to provide the citizenship and not to deprive any Indian from citizenship.
There is an intensive propaganda run by the people who opposes the act and it is the fundamental duty of every citizen to educate them to not to became a victim of any propaganda and rumours.
The students and faculty members of various colleges were present in the gathering and expressed their views on the issue and strongly supported the act and condemned the false propaganda of political parties. Dr.Kandi Muthu, Vibhag Pramukh, ABVP A& N Islands, Mr. Rajsekar, Secretary, ABVP, A& N Islands, Dr. Prashant Srivastav and Dr. K.Venkatesan Vice President ABVP, Port Blair, Mr. Omkar Parida, National Executive Member, ABVP and Mr. Sidhant Rai Sharma, State Media Convener coordinated the programme and highlighted the benefits of the act.
