Port Blair, September 10: It’s a proud moment for Andaman & Nicobar Islands as first time in history more than one shooter will represent islands in the “XXIX All India G. V. Mavalankar shooting championship” going to be held at Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The more conducive is, there are 02 young female shooters from the islands participating in the event which will definitely inspire the upcoming generations to take up the sport as a career and in return will boost the sport in the islands too.
As per reports, “XXIX All India G. V. Mavalankar shooting championship in small bore rifle/pistol event” will begin from 14th September, 2019 and will go on till 20th September, 2019 wherein 04 shooters from the islands are all set to give a tough competition to their opponents hailing from other states.
Andaman Nicobar Rifle Association have pledged and letting no stones unturned to boost the game of shooting in the islands and even this time has ensured to buttress the rising shooters with “Match Grade Imported Air Rifle” for their match.
Prabhu Chandra RP will participate in the men category whereas Joel K Abraham will participate in the youth boy’s category for 10 meter Air Rifle shooting. Bhumika Das and Khyati Jain will participate in the youth girl’s category for 10 meter Air Rifle shooting.
“We have received solid training from the star shooter of the Islands and our mentor, Mr Mohsin Khan and we are hopeful that we will bring laurels in the event we are going to participate in,” said the participants. Secretary General, Andaman Nicobar Rifle’s Association, Mr Iqbal Mohammed has blessed the sportsmen for doing their best in the event. All the participants are moving to the venue tomorrow.
