Port Blair, Aug 07: The District Election Officer/ Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman held a meeting with the AROs, AEROs, BLO Supervisors and BLOs in the Zilla Parishad Community Hall at Mayabunder yesterday at 11.00 AM to discuss the modalities of Special Summary Revision of Electoral Roll w.r.t 01.01.2020 as the qualifying date.
During the meeting the DEO informed all about the schedule of SSR of Electoral Rolls as issued by the Election Commission of India and outlined the roles and responsibilities of the various election related officials viz. BLOs, BLO supervisors, and AEROs along with the electors during the SSR for improving the health of Electoral Roll. Various initiatives of Election Commission of India were discussed in the meeting viz. Standardisation of Addresses, capturing of GIS location of PS and households, tagging of family members of the electors, etc. Emphasis was given on the Electors Verification Programme (EVP) which is scheduled between August 16 to September 30, 2019.
Later, a meeting was also held with the representatives of Political Parties of North & Middle Andaman District wherein DEO, N&MA delineated the whole process of SSR and discussed the roles and responsibilities of the Political parties therein. He requested the representatives to appoint Booth Level Agents (BLAs) at the earliest and coordinate with the election staffs in the endeavours so as to ensure the fidelity of the electoral rolls.
