Port Blair, August 7: Jal Shakti Abhiyan was launched nationwide with an emphasis on focusing various aspects like water conservation rainwater harvesting, renovation of traditional and other water bodies, reuse of water and recharging of structures watershed development and intensive afforestation. The Jal Shakti Abhiyan should bring positive change in people for water conservation. It will help people to work for rainwater harvesting, maintenance and upkeep of ponds and tanks and conservation of water.
As a part of this Abhiyan, the Port Blair Municipal Council has embarked upon this awareness campaign and conducted the Abhiyan at various places within the city. Today the awareness programme was conducted among school students at Delanipur School converging the above aspects. Mr CH Babu, Chairperson Waterworks Sub-committee, Mr Ramzan Ali, Councilor ward no. 3, Smti Asha, Executive Engineer (Water), Mr Jepson Daniel, Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineers (water)from PBMC Principal, headMistress and teachers preschool participated in the awareness campaign to ramp up conservation efforts.
