Port Blair, Jun 17: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad Andaman & Nicobar Units in its letter to the Chief Secretary A&N Administration has demanded to implement the new UGC guidelines for appointment of Guest lecturer at collages.
As per the UGC revised guidelines the guest lecturer should be paid an amount of Rs. 1500/- per lecture subject to a maximum ceiling of Rs. 50000/- per months, as compared to the present Rs. 1000/- per lecturer and a maximum ceiling of 25000/- per month.
ABVP also expressed its concern over the quality of higher education preventing in the current scenario in the islands with the rest of the states and central universities who have already implemented the revised guidelines for honorarium and essential qualification for engaging guest facilities.
“The Administration is yet to implement the revised guideline for ascertaining quality in the higher educational institution of these islands,” a communication R. Rajsekar, Secretary, ABVP A&N islands said.
