Port Blair, Aug 14: Mr. Ram Kumar Verma, IPS, Superintendent of Police (Anti-Corruption) has been awarded the coveted President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service on the occasion of Independence Day, 2012. He has won this prestigious medal for rendering commendable service to the nation in his 27 years long career in Police. Mr. Ram Kumar joined Delhi Police as an Asstt. Commissioner of Police during the year 1985 and worked in various capacities in Delhi Police and solved many sensational cases including in nabbing, of dreaded JKLF activist as ACP/ Model Town.
Before joining A&N Police force the officer had rendered his service as DCP/Supreme Court Security and looking after the security of Supreme Court of India very efficiently. Mr. Ram Kumar joined in A&N Police on 01.12.2010 and he has been assigned the charges of Superintendent of Police (Anti-Corruption/ CID/North & Middle Andaman (Dist)/ Commandant, IRBn/Home Guard, Principal/PTS, Police Motor Transport, Communication and Headquarters). On 21/06/2011, under his supervision a raid was conducted and seizure of huge quantity of illegal Explosives was carried out and a case under explosive Act was registered. Moreover, being the capacity of Principal, Police Training School, under his supervision, 379 recruits constable of the A&N Police has passed out from the police training School. It is pertinent to mention that this particular batch had the highest number of recruits in the history of A&N Police Training School, a communication received here said.
