
Port Blair, Mar 27: Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, INTUC along with the office bearers of Industries Employees Union called on Director of Industries to discuss various genuine demands and grievances of the Industrial workers of the Directorate of Industries on 27th March, 2017.
During the course of discussion Mr. Sharma expressed concern over the growing unemployment in the Islands a laid emphasis on expeditiously filling up of the posts lying vacant since long in the department. He further demanded that the posts at the higher rung of the functional hierarchy need to be filled on promotional basis by causing amendment to the Recruitment Rules.
He stressed that unlike ministerial cadre, the criteria of feeder to promotion a post ratio need not be followed while formulating the Recruitment Rules for the posts in an industrial establishment as an incumbent earns his promotion by passing the trade test at various stages in his carrier.
As regard to direct recruitment at entry level posts Mr. Sharma opined that Industrial training from institutes like ITI, Community Polytechnic, Directorate of Industries and other Govt. institute need to be incorporated in the Recruitment Rules so that students pursuing industrial training gets employment opportunity in industrial establishment of government.
The Director of Industries gave patient hearing to the various demands raised by the union and assured to take positive steps towards settlement of the issues at an early date.
