Port Blair, Mar 27: The lone Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray in a letter addressed to the President of Andaman Chamber and Commerce and Industry on 25th March clarified that he played no role in the decision taken by PBMC in its meeting held on 11.03.2017.
In his letter the MP gave reference to a news item published by local dailies on 15 March, 2017, under the caption “ACCI hails PBMC for introducing Property Tax on unit area rented value method” wherein the ACCI have conveyed its wholehearted welcome and congratulation to the PBMC as well as the Member of Parliament for the initiative taken in resolving the long pending demand of the residents of Port Blair in introduction of new property tax based on Unit Area Rental Value Method.
Mr. Ray clarified that neither had attended the meeting by PBMC on 11.03.2017 nor was he involved in the decisions taken by the PBMC in introduction of the new Property Tax based on UARV method.
