Port Blair, Dec 04: The Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank organised Cooperative Bank Golden Jubilee Cup – 2016 which was inaugurated in a grand gala function today at Mini Stadium, Wimberlygunj by Mr. Ramesh Verma, IAS, Secretary (Coop.)-cum-RCS, A & N Administration in presence of special Guest the legendary Footballer, Mr. Shyam Thapa.
Addressing the gathering Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma lauded the youths for participating in the tournament in such a huge number and stressed on the need to organize proper training for Island youths by expert coaches from Mainland. He requested the legendary Footballer, Mr. Shyam Thapa to take out some time and train local football lover youths for a month. He also assured that all the expenses for such training will be shouldered by ANSCB.
Mr. Sharma said that ANSCB has got tremendous love from public and said that the bank offers all modern facilities to customers and urged public to open account in ANSCB.
Regarding training of local youths Mr. Shyam Thapa said that he is ready to discuss on this subject. He also appreciated the efforts of Andaman Nicobar State Cooperative Bank to honour veteran footballers of these Islands.
Mr. Ramesh Verma, the chief guest lauded the efforts of ANSCB for organizing such huge tournament in a professional manner.
In the inaugural function, Island InfoTech team defeated Modern Village Football Club by 02 – 00. Shri. Dinesh scored the first goal and Shri. Philip Marandi scored the 2nd goal.
The 2nd match will be played between IRBn Police Vs V S Youth Club on 05.12.2016 at 1.00 PM and the 3rd match will be played between Meshack Sporting Club Spark Boys Vs ITI on 05.12.2016 at 2.30 PM.
