Port Blair, July 6: On July 4 a missing report of a minor school girl was received at PS Aberdeen from her father and according to the father of the girl, she was dropped at her school, but later he received an information from the school that her daughter was absent from the school. On this information, a police team was formed and due to persistent and sincere efforts the missing minor girl was traced out and the culprit was nabbed from Namunaghar.
Subsequently a case vide Cr. No. 413/16 dtd 04/07/16 U/s 363 IPC r.w.s 7/8 POCSO Act 2012 has been registered at PS Aberdeen. The accused who is a resident of Dairy Farm has been arrested and was produced before the Hon’ble Court at Port Blair from where he has been sent to Judicial Custody Remand. Further investigation is in progress.
Ensuring zero tolerance for crime against women, A&N Police once again advices all the parents, school authorities, tuition centres and other institutions to take adequate care of the girl child and keep the police informed in the event of any crime against them. Such information can be given to PCR on 100 or the nearest Police Station.
