Port Blair, May 26: To facilitate diversion of land, reduce pendency and curtail the involvements of touts, the District Administration of South Andaman and implemented certain changes in the procedures. Accordingly, the process flow has been streamlined and the number of steps taken have been reduced and once the case is decided, challan will now be issued within two hours of the hearing conducted/same day itself.
Orders will now be issued within 3 working days from payment of challan, earlier there was no specific time period as such, which lead to multiple visits by the applicant. The number of documents which were required have also been reduced. Earlier for diversion into Commercial/Industrial purpose, 11 documents were called for, now only 6 documents are needed.
Check list of the documents required has been prepared and the same can be collected from the Reader Section of SDO/SDM (SA). The detailed project report, which included aspects like employment generation, connectivity etc. and other points has also been rationalized, which the applicants can prepare and submit on their own, thus curtailing the role of touts.
The time of hearing has now been shifted to 9 am in the morning and priority is being given to cases within 500 sq. mtrs.
