Port Blair, Oct 10: A & N AIDS Control Society (ANACS) and Blood Bank, G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair observed National Voluntary Blood Donation Day on the 1st October 2015 with the theme Blood Donors Bring a ray of hope, Be a regular Blood Donor function at Nirmala Senior Secondary School, Prem Nagar, Port Blair. Around 64 units of blood (Female – 9 & Male 55) were donated by the voluntary students, Teachers and Student’s Parents.
The Chief Guest Smt. Tanvi Garg, IAS, Secretary-cum-Director (Education), A &N Administration said that for last so many years voluntary blood donation camps were arranged by this institution for the noble cause. She further emphasized blood is very precious in the sense that it saves another precious life since there is no alternative of blood in this universe.
The camp was conducted under the guidance and leadership of Dr. R.K. Halder, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society.
The camp was facilitated by Dr. (Mrs). Shaiji P.S., Deputy Director (Blood Safety)/ Assistant Professor, Medical Officer Incharge, Blood Bank, G.B Pant Hospital, Port Blair. She briefed the young donors on various aspect and importance of blood donation.
The Camp was coordinated by Smt. Palwinder Kaur, Councillor of A & N AIDS Control Society.
