Port Blair, Oct 1: To observe the 61st Wildlife Week, 2015 the Department of Environment and Forests has chalked out elaborate programmes. Accordingly, the inaugural function will include a Rally, Stage show on Wildlife & fancy dress show depicting various species by school students. T-Shirt & Caps will be distributed to school children/Teachers and Officers of A & N Administration during the rally, including refreshment and other miscellaneous arrangements). The Inaugural rally will start from Van Sadan at 7 am to Tagore Govt. college of Education, Middle Point via Goal Ghar on Oct 3, 2015. On Oct 5, a Nature Camp at MHNP and MGMNP for school students will be conducted from 7.30 am and followed by a nature awareness test, Animal feeding programme for School students from various schools inside Zoo premises under the supervision of Senior Veterinary Officer, attached to the DCF (WL) office will be conducted at Mini Zoo at 8.30 am,
On Oct 6, drawing Competition for school students of Class I-V will be conducted at Mini Zoo & Van Sadan, Haddo from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and Debate contest for college students at room no. 52 of Seminar Hall JNRM from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm. Car Rally involving youths and executive staffs from Port Blair to Diglipur including Skit show programme, sensitization on wildlife conservation at Baratang, Rangat, Mayabunder & Diglipur will be conducted from Oct 3-6, 2015 from Port Blair to Diglipur; a Workshop on “People in fish resource conservation” at Mini Zoo Auditorium will be held at Mini Zoo at 10 am and Quiz Competition for school students will be conducted at Model School from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on Oct 7, 2015. The valedictory function and prize distribution function will be held at Megapode Nest at 3 pm on Oct 9, 2015.
The general public and school/college students have been requested to take participate in the programmes and spread the message on importance of wildlife conservation.
