Port Blair, Aug 19: No transit pass would be required for import of river sand to Andaman & Nicobar Islands and its transportation within this territory with immediate effect. However, the consignee of such imported river sand shall submit the details of quantity of River Sand imported on its arrival at the Port/ Wharf in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and that the consignments shall be open for inspection by authorised Forest Officer as and when required for administration reasons, said Anisha Kalkoor M, Deputy Conservator of Forests (Planning & Monitoring) in a release.
