Port Blair, Aug 5: Using high beam headlights by motorists causes irritation to the eyes of the drivers coming from opposite direction and also affects aircraft operation in night. A notification has already been issued by the District Magistrate, South Andaman and publicized through electronic and print media for the information of general public that while plying their vehicles at night from Dairy Farm Junction to Bhatu Basthi and vice versa they shall ply their vehicles on low beam only.
The general public is once again requested to ply their vehicles in low beam on the above stretch of road. The Traffic Police will conduct special drive against the drivers/owners after a week against using high beam on the above road and the violators are liable to be prosecuted as per law, said the Superintendent of Police, South Andaman in a release.
