Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 14: The State Control Room, based on the latest weather information from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), has issued weather, fishermen and farmer warnings for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the coming days.
Weather Warning: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds are likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the period 15 to 20 September 2026.
Tuesday, 15 September: Heavy rainfall of 7–11 cm is likely at one or two places over the islands. Thunderstorms with gusty winds of 40–50 kmph and lightning are also likely at one or two places. Wednesday, 16 September: Heavy rainfall of 7–11 cm is likely at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph. Thursday, 17 September: Heavy rainfall of 7–11 cm is likely at one or two places, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph. Friday, 18 September: Heavy to very heavy rainfall of 7–20 cm is likely at one or two places. Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph are also likely. Saturday, 19 September: Heavy rainfall of 7–11 cm is likely at one or two places, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph. Sunday, 20 September: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph are likely at one or two places.
Fishermen Warning: Fishermen along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coast are advised to exercise extreme caution and follow the latest marine weather advisories before venturing into the sea.
Farmer Advisory: Farmers are advised to remain alert during periods of thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds. Necessary precautions should be taken to protect crops, livestock and agricultural infrastructure.
The general public is also advised to remain vigilant during thunderstorms and lightning and to follow advisories issued by the authorities.
