Sri Vijaya Puram, Oct 08: The Block Project Office, Diglipur, under Inclusive Education, Samagra Shiksha, organized an Awareness Programme on World Dyslexia Day at GPS Talbagan, Diglipur, to spread awareness and understanding about Dyslexia—a specific learning disorder that affects reading, writing, and spelling skills. The event focused on the theme “Understanding Dyslexia: Early Support for Lifelong Success.”
A total of 51 participants, including parents, teachers, students, SMC/SMDC members, and Anganwadi workers, attended the programme with great enthusiasm.
The event began with a welcome address by Ms. Tanushree Biswas, PST, followed by introductory remarks by Mr. Kiran Mondal, Head of the Institution, who emphasized the importance of early identification and supportive teaching strategies for children with learning difficulties.
The programme was divided into three technical sessions:
Session I: Ms. Rakhi Kabiraj, BRP (CwSN), BPO Diglipur, presented on the topic “What is Dyslexia?” She explained the meaning, characteristics, and misconceptions about dyslexia, highlighting how timely understanding can prevent long-term academic struggles.
Session II: Mr. Biswajit Das, Special Educator, BPO Diglipur, led a session on “Early Identification of Dyslexia.” He discussed the key signs teachers and parents should look for in children, shared simple classroom screening techniques, and stressed the role of collaboration between parents and educators.
Session III: Ms. N. Riya Nandan, PSRT, DEO Diglipur, spoke on “Dyslexia: Roles of Early Intervention.” She elaborated on various remedial measures, individualized education plans, and assistive strategies that help children with dyslexia achieve academic success and emotional confidence.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to the resource persons and participants for their valuable contribution.
In addition to GPS Talbagan, GSSS Kalighat, GSS Laxmipur, GMS Milangram, GMS Hathilevel, GMS Sitanagar, GPS Jagannath Dera, GPS Subashgram, GPS Madhyamgram, and GPS 30 Family, GPS Narayan Tickery & GPS V S Pally also observed World Dyslexia Day under the same initiative.
The event reflected the commitment of the Education Department towards promoting inclusive education and ensuring that every child, regardless of learning differences, receives the right support for lifelong learning success.
