Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 7: The mysterious death of a 17-year-old boy in Kadamtala region, North and Middle Andaman, continues to stir tension and suspicion as police deepen their investigation.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha, the Superintendent of Police (North & Middle Andaman) today confirmed that one suspect has so far been arrested and sent to judicial custody. “An FIR has been registered and investigation is under progress. We are focusing on the scientific aspects of the case. At this stage, it is too early to comment,” the SP stated.
In recent days, a police team escorted the main accused back to the site where the body was found in order to recreate the suspected crime scene, a common practice to piece together the sequence of events. Sources indicate that police are still compiling reports and analyzing forensic evidence before arriving at any conclusions.
The case traces back to nearly three weeks, when the minor’s body was discovered in a semi-nude condition hanging from a tree near the residence of a local PRI member. The boy had left home on a Sunday afternoon and failed to return, only for his family to later find him dead under disturbing circumstances.
Recently, the victim’s mother in an emotional video statement had alleged inconsistencies in the official account and demanded a fair inquiry.
Adding weight to the controversy, several locals speculated that the incident could be a case of murder possibly linked to personal disputes.
Independent checks by Andaman Sheekha also suggest that more than one arrest may follow, as community members argue it would be nearly impossible for one individual alone to hang the victim’s body without assistance.
For now, the Kadamtala case remains under active investigation, with the possibility of further arrests looming as authorities examine all angles behind the tragic death.
