Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 03: Eleven days after the mysterious death of a minor in Kadamtala region, where his body was found hanging from a tree, several questions still remain unanswered. Mr. Subrata Basu, Zilla Parishad Member of Kadamtala region, after meeting the parents of the deceased and interacting with the investigating officials, expressed both faith and concern over the ongoing probe.
In a video message shared in social media he said while police have gathered certain information regarding physical injuries on the body, the crucial question of who hanged the minor still remains unresolved. “The investigation appears slow, and despite 11 days passing, those responsible for possible hanging him have not been identified,” Basu remarked.
He also raised concerns over the pressure reportedly being exerted on the grieving family regarding the alleged “love affair angle,” which has diverted focus from the core investigation. Civil society members have also echoed these concerns, stressing that the minor’s parents deserve justice and transparency.
Surprisingly, the Andaman and Nicobar Police has so far issued neither a press release nor an official briefing on the case, adding to the confusion. Several critical questions remain unanswered: What is the mystery behind the minor’s mobile phone being found inside a ditch, and who might have hidden it? Why did the arrested suspect, who later admitted to causing physical injuries to the boy, initially remain silent for hours about the victim’s identity, even as police struggled to establish it? Most importantly, has an FIR for murder been registered, and if so, why has this crucial information not been shared with the public at a time when there is widespread outrage across the islands?
