All the festivals of the Vanvasi community are based on nature and are the true carriers of Sanatan culture, in other words, they are the real Hindus.
The Vanvasi society are an integral part of Hindu Society, and its grand festival of folk faith; Karma Puja is celebrated on the eleventh day of the Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month among the Chota Nagpuri Tribal Communities. According to popular beliefs, during the great deluge, Maharaj Manu tied his boat to the Karma tree and under it, Goddess Parvati penance for seven years in her virgin state for choosing Lord Shiva as her husband. The Karma Puja Vrat is observed for the well being of the brother & family and to get suitable life partner.
This grand festival of worshipping the nature; Karma Puja Festival is also celebrated in Andaman & Nicobar Islands by the Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram on 03rd September, 2025 Wednesday at various places of these Islands such as Mayabunder, Diglipur, Bakultala, Baratang, Sri Vijaya Puram and Campbell Bay, altogether at 18 places and has invited all its Chota Nagpuri Ranchi Community members to join these celebrations with joy and enthusiasm. The Chota Nagpuri Ranchi Community members are also requested to join this festival in traditional attire i.e., white Saree with red border for females and Dhoti & Kurta for males along with a dance troupe accompanied by Dholak and Mandar to receive the blessings and grace of Karam Devta.
