
Port Blair, Apr 11: A Ceremonial farewell parade was held in honour of Mr. Satyendra Garg, IPS, the outgoing DGP, at Police Lines, Parade Ground on 11th April 2022. Mr. Garg joined as DGP of A&N Islands on 21st December 2020 and is returning to Delhi on his transfer after a successful tenure of more than 15 months.
A total of 06 platoons comprising of IRBn, Executive Police (Male & Female), Fire Service and two Police Bands (Male Brass Band and Ladies Pipe Band) participated in the Farewell Parade.
The parade was commanded by Mr. Naveen Kumar, Assistant Commandant, IRBn. All senior Police officers ranging from ADGP to Dy.SP and all rank and files from all Units of the Police Department attended the function.
Mr. Satyendra Garg, IPS, DGP, in his address, conveyed his greetings to the residents of A&N Islands in general, and all personnel of A&N Police. He lauded the services rendered by A&N Police towards maintaining peace and tranquility, tourist safety, prevention and detection of crime, dealing with fire calls and natural disasters, VIP security, etc.
While highlighting major achievements of A&N Police in the past 15 months, Mr. Garg mentioned the crackdown on bootlegging and drug peddling, drunken driving, illegal immigrants, community outreach, discipline and transparency in Police Administration.
Further, the conduct of peaceful and incident-free Municipal and Panchayat Election and the ‘Asani cyclone’ were other major events in which Police rose to the occasion and did commendable work.
DGP appealed to all police personnel to discharge their duties with utmost dedication, professionalism, transparency, integrity and sincerity to take the A&N Police to new and glorious heights.
