Port Blair, Nov 08: As part of the efforts to enhance the transparency and to ensure ease of doing business, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has launched an enhanced DPIIT G2B Portal. The DPIIT vide its notification has informed that the entrepreneur can now file an application for Industrial Entrepreneur Memorandum(IEM) Part ‘A’ for the establishment of business and Part ‘B’ upon commencement of commercial production online through the DPIIT’s enhanced portal. Presently, the procedure to obtain Industrial Entrepreneur Memorandum is through DPIIT G2B Portal.
Industrial Entrepreneurs Memorandum is an application for acknowledgment of the industrial unit. According to the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, all exempted industrial from the requirements of industrial licensing and having an investment of Rs 10 Crore or above in the manufacturing sector and Rs 5 crore or above in services sector are required to file IEM. According to the MSME definition modified last year, entities with the investment in plant and machinery or equipment between Rs 11 crore and Rs 50 crore are defined as medium enterprises.
Industrial Entrepreneurs Memorandum is required for the industrial promoter under the categories such as to set up a new industrial undertaking, to effect substantial expansion of the industrial undertaking, to manufacture a new article, to carry on business of existing MSME units after graduating into large-scale industry.
