Port Blair, May 02: Great deal of uncertainty and confusion continue in Andaman and Nicobar Islands over starting of vaccination drive for 18 to 44 age group population as the Administration has not received any confirmation yet regarding supply of vaccines to Andaman from Serum Institute of India (SII).
As per Andaman’s Health Department the Union Territory Administration has still not received any confirmation from Serum Institute of India (SII) regarding supply of 3.6 lakhs vaccines, required for vaccinating 18-44 year age group people.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the Deputy Director, GB Pant Hospital, Dr. Amitabh De today said that orders have been placed for vaccines but till now no confirmation has been received from the company. “Unless and until we receive any confirmation it is difficult for us to say when the vaccination drive will begin for 18+ in andaman,” he said.
As per sources the Andaman and Nicobar administration had placed orders for 3.6 lakh vaccine doses out of which 1 lakh doses were requested immediately but till now the SII has not responded.
