Port Blair, Feb 23: Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society conducted Workshop on HIV/AIDS, STD, Blood Donation motivation and Condom Promotion at Pahargaon, Community Hall on 20.02.2021 with support of Port Blair Municipal council.
More than 53 participants attended the programme. A large number of them were sanitary inspectors and sanitary workers from PBMC.
Mr. Girish Kumar, AD (SPM) deliberated on and imparted knowledge about the prevention, management and care of HIV/AIDS in different populations and also the risk faced by different vulnerable populations. Mr. Kaushik Kumar Halder, AD (IEC) spoke on condom promotion, Smt. Adiba, Counselor spoke extensively on the different dimensions of STI & RTI and Mr. Harender Kumar Rai Counselor also spoke on the occasion following all the COVID-19 protocols.
Smti. Latha, Lab Technicain, ICTC, G.B. Pant Hospital conducted the Community based Screening (CBS) for the participants and the participants were exhorted to come forward for ‘Knowing their HIV Status” by voluntarily getting themselves tested. The test report if found positive will be dealt confidentially.
