Port Blair, October 13: Yesterday a fire accident was reported from Garacharma near Teacher Training Institute area where a house got fully gutted. According to the information received, yesterday morning at around 11:30 AM a fire call was reported in fire control room. Having received the information immediately the fire team of Garacharma and nearby fire stations came into action and reached the spot in no time but because of wooden structure and bamboo mat the fire engulfed the house completely.
It was also learned that, two cylinders were kept inside the house of which one was full and another was empty.
As per sources the full cylinder was highly heated and flames were gushing out from regulator. The team, immediately cooled the cylinder by hand fire extinguisher and took the cylinder out to an open area. The fire team swiftly handled the situation saving nearby properties as well. As per the reports, the fire team was led by Sub Inspector Murgesan from Garacharma fire station and Inspector Sushil Kullu from Aberdeen fire station. One fire tender from Garacharma fire station and one fire tender with water browser from Aberdeen fire station were sent to control the fire.
