Port Blair, Sept 30: The Governing body of the District health society for Nicobar District reviewed the performance of the society recently at the meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner of Nicobar, P Jawahar. Reviewing the activities of the Society, the chairman of the governing body, P Jawahar called upon the members to take immediate action to optimize the utilization the allocated funds for the current fiancial year, so as to improve the health standards of various medical facilities availale in all the remote islands of the district.
During the meeting, the difficulties faced by the health workers in collecting data in remote islands for updating the Mother and Child Tracking System(MCTS) was discussed in detail. The members were briefed about the progress of the SMS based system of data collection for MCTS which is currently being carried out on trial basis in the District Office. The members hoped that the unique system, once it is launched, will completely make the MCTS data of Nicobar district up-to-date and on par with the MCTS requirements prescribed by the Union Ministry of Health and Family welfare.
The Vice Chairman and Medical Superintendent, BJR Hospital, Car Nicobar, Dr B G Lall, Aberdeen Blair, Chairman, Tribal Council, Govind Ram, Assistant Commissioner and Amit Kumar Pamasi, Assistant Commissioner and other members of District Health Society participated in the meeting. (PIB)
