Port Blair, June 18: Several Andaman Students who came out of the Russia, Ukraine etc countries, amidst Corona threat, and landed in India, have now found more troubles waiting for them in their own country.
As per reports, all the students had the flight tickets to Andaman on the same day, they landed to Chennai from Russia but to their utter dismay, authorities in Chennai have not allowed the students to travel to Andaman and have forcefully quarantined all the students in the hostel of VIT college at Chennai.
The condition of the hostel is said to be so pathetic that students have to clean their room themselves and are forced to adjust anyhow.
Andaman Sheekha has learned that the boarding for Port Blair flight was almost completed, and at the last minute the authorities in Chennai stopped the students from flying to Port Blair yesterday.
“We are ready to manage in the difficulties here, only thing we need is an assurance that after our reports come negative we must be immediately allowed to fly to Port Blair and they must not give reasons that due to the lockdown in Chennai from tomorrow, we cannot fly,” said a student, who does not want his/her name to be quoted.
Parents of all 08 students are running from pillar to post in the Andaman with a request to make arrangements of flight after the medical report of their wards is declared. “My daughter already had a bad time when she got stuck for months in Ukraine, I just don’t want that complete lockdown that has been announced in Chennai from tomorrow for 12 days becomes another hurdle for her to reach Andaman,” said a parent on condition of anonymity.
Andaman Sheekha has also learned that few more students of Andaman will be landing tomorrow to Chennai from Russia and for them also same treatment is expected.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vishal Jolly, the Ex-State President of Bhartiya Janta Party, Andaman and Nicobar Islands in his today’s tweet has requested the Andaman Administration to make arrangements for the students’ safe arrival at Port Blair.
When the last report poured in, all the 08 students who are currently at the VIT Hostel in Chennai have been tested negative and hence, all students are now requesting the administration to call them Port Blair in any flight tomorrow.
“We would also request the administration to bear the expenses of the flight ticket of our wards, as they were not allowed in yesterday’s flight which they booked with their hard-earned money and taking additional burden for booking the tickets again would not be fair,” some parents requested.
