Port Blair, May 12: Mr. Chinnakarupan, a resident of Calicut recently died when he came in contact with a railing, which somehow was live with current due to contact with a live electric line, villagers claim.
After death of Mr. Chinnakarupan, his family members are now total helpless, as Mr. Chinnakarupan was the lone breadwinner of the family. The family in distress is now crying for help.
It is now learnt that an inquiry will be conducted by the Electricity Department, Andaman and Nicobar Island, after the post mortem report of Late Mr. Chinnakarupan, who allegedly died due to electrocution on 08/05/2020, is submitted to the Electricity Department.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Superintendent Engineer, Electricity Department, Er. Ajit Bernard said that the Department has complete knowledge about the accident and they are waiting for the post mortem report.
“If at all the post mortem report claims that the man died due to electrocution, we will conduct an inquiry with the help of an Electrical Inspector from the mainland and if the department is found accountable, according to the Electricity Department act, we will release compensation to the family members of the deceased,” Er. Bernard added.
As per inputs, on 08th May 2020, while coming back from a well in Ranchi Basthi, Calicut, 45-year-old Mr. Chinnakarupan touched a railing which was already in the contact with a live electric wire, which resulted to his death.
This is good to know that the Electricity Department has already planned to conduct inquiry into this matter and also planned to give compensation if the inquiry results comes in favour of the family in distress but many villagers demand that the Administration must release some immediate relief for the poor family so that it can survive till the completion of these paper works. “Why can’t Administration give some ex-gratia amount to the family on humanitarian ground,” asked a villager of the area.
