Port Blair, April 08: The parents of an 11-year-old patient of Shaheed Dweep who went for his son’s treatment at New Delhi have been facing financial crisis due to the lockdown and are struggling to manage their expenses.
As per reports, Master. Rajat Kumar Mondal, 11-year-old with his parents Sunita Mondal and Tapan Mondal went to New Delhi on 09/03/2020 at Sri Gangaram Hospital for treatment.
It is learned that the suggested tests for their son were completed by the hospital but because of the sudden announcement of lockdown, neither the treatment started nor they were able to return back to Andaman.
As per details available with Andaman Sheekha, currently, the parents of the patient are staying in a rented room behind Paharganj Police Station which is expensive and the parents are unable to manage daily expenses.
The issue has been taken up already by Mr. MT Mustafa, President Island Protection Forum to the Chief Secretary and on a humanitarian ground, he has already requested the CS to support them with food and accommodation at Andaman Bhawan with directions to the DRC New Delhi.
Mr. Mustafa has also advocated for many of the patients referred under ANISHI scheme who are currently stuck in Chennai and Kolkata and requested the CS to provide them free shelter and food.
