Port Blair, Mar 17: Although the efforts shown by the Andaman Nicobar Administration to prevent spread of Corona Virus in Andaman Nicobar Island have been highly appreciated by people but still there are many places where the administration is facing challenge in controlling the crowd.
Two such places are Jirkatang Check post area and Middle Strait Check Post area, where everyday large number of people gathers before every convoy and hence the areas remain as a hotspot.
Today during a phone in program in All India Radio when this matter was highlighted by one of the listener the Secretary of Health was unable to give a satisfactory reply however he said that all the buses are running in half capacity which should be enough to reduce the number of passengers in Andaman Trunk Road.
But sadly the fact is that before every convoy at least two hundred people are gathering at both Jirkatang and Middle Strait Check post areas.
Many believe that the solution of this problem could be leaving a gap of 15 minutes between every bus which are reaching these check posts and directing all the bus drivers and conductors to park each bus at least 100 metres apart at both the check posts.
There is also need to direct all ATR passengers to remain close to their own vehicles, either Bus or their own Car.
Another area where the Administration is still unable to control the crowd is in front of all the wine shops of Port Blair city where at any point of time people can see nearly 200 people gathered to collect liquor.
Today there was a minor scuffle in front of the Junglighat wine shop because of heavy rush and people complain that during evening hours huge number of people gather infornt of almost all wine shops.
These wine shops are now hotspots and the administration must look into this matter. Public meanwhile, questions that when all the Bars in city are closed then why wine shops are kept open by the administration.
Although the Administration is doing a great job by regulating various services just to ensure that COVID19 do not play havoc in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Hopefully the Administration will look into these two hotspots too, where still large number of people are gathering everyday.
