Port Blair, Feb 5: In accordance with the provision of Rule 4 (f) and (k) of Andaman and Nicobar Marine Fishing Rules, 2004, validity of fishing licenses granted for the year 2019-20 will expire on 31st March, 2020. Hence, the validity of the fishing license is to be extended for one year from the date of issue by the Authorized Officer subject to fulfillment of mandatory requirements under the Rules in force including production of seaworthiness certificate for motorized and mechanized boat.
All the Mechanized, Motorized and Non – Motorized fishing boat owners / crews falling within the jurisdiction of South Andaman District have been directed to contact the concerned Area Fishery Officer and produce their fishing craft and gear for inspection prior to renewal of fishing license on payment of prescribed fee. In case of Motorized/Mechanized fishing vessel, the vessel should be fitted with Distress Alert Transmitter (DAT) in working condition. Sports fishing vessel should be fitted with communication equipments such as GPS, Marine VHF (static), Automatic Identification System (AIS) and Distress Alert Transmitter (DAT) and all should be in perfect working condition.
Meanwhile, the renewal of fishing license for the year 2020–21 shall commence from 10th February, 2020. The Fishing Licenses and Fisher Identity Cards shall be renewed for a period of one year from the date of renewal/issuance of fishing license within one month of its expiry.
