Port Blair, Feb 02: The Indian Coast Guard celebrated its 44th raising day on 01 Feb 20. From a modest beginning of just 7 ships in 1978, the service has grown into a formidable force with 16 District Headquarters, 42 stations, 146 ships and 62 aircraft in its inventory. To commemorate the occasion, Inspector General Maneesh Vishal Pathak, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N) hosted areception on 01 Feb 20 at the Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (A & N) premises. The Hon’ble Lt Governor Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM,AVSM,YSM,NM,VSM(Rtd)graced the occasion as Chief Guest and performed the traditional cake cutting ceremony along with the youngest Coast Guard officer in A&N Region. The Hon’ble Lt Governor A & N, Chief Secretary A & N and Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar in their message congratulated the Indian Coast Guard on completion of 43 glorious years of service to the nation and appreciated the pivotal role played by the service in ensuring the national interests in the Maritime Zones.
