Port Blair, Jan 27: A major accident took place infornt of the Girls’ Senior Secondary School, Port Blair yesterday evening at around 08:00pm, in which a car went off the road and jumped into the sea.
As per reports, the driver who is said to be a lady mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of brakes, while, keeping car in first gear. According to sources, due to the speed of the vehicle it jumped into the sea after hitting an old man aged 65 years, who was walking on the walkway, situated on the other side of the road.
Luckily, the lady (who was driving) and a man inside the car managed to come out of the car after it fell into the sea but the old man who was hit by the car suffered major injuries in his back and currently he is admitted in the ICU of Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital.
As per reports, a case has been registered in the Aberdeen Police Station against the driver of the vehicle in this regard. The car was also pulled out of the sea by the Police Team, yesterday itself.
