Port Blair, Jan 27: Ograbraj Junction witnessed a huge crowd of people this morning as the villagers of Namunaghar and Mithakhari blocked the road and expressed their anger against the pathetic roads in the area. Similar Protest was organized at Bambooflat area also.
At Ograbraj only ambulance, school children and people heading towards airport were allowed to cross the Ograbraj Junction by the protestors.
Even after repeated assurance from the authorities when nothing was done to make the road motorable, the residents took this extreme step.
Later at around 10:30am when the Chief Engineer, Andaman Public Works Department, Er Balaji and Superintendent Engineer, APWD, Er Tej Bahadur with Tehsildar South Andaman, Mr Sunil Kumar reached the spot and assured the residents that within one week the road work in the area will start the protestors withdrew the protest.
