Port Blair, Jan 09: Playing games at Children Park, Premnagar Ward Number 07 is no longer easy for children as the domestic pigs have virtually taken control over the Park.
Many parents of the Premnagar area have already restricted their children to play at children’s park, Premnagar as they are well aware that close contact with any sick pigs can pass diseases to humans.
“We only get few hours to play in the evening hours but nowadays that too has become a threat for us because of these pigs,” said a child whose parents have stopped him from playing at the park.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the Chairperson, Port Blair Municipal Council, Mr Udaya Kumar in this regard, he assured that he will immediately take up the matter with Sanitary Officer and ask him to visit the park and address the grievance.
However, he said that the Sanitary Inspectors do charge penalties from the owners who rear pigs and take the custody of Domestic Pigs, if found roaming in public places and keep them in their sheds at Brookshabad.
