Port Blair, Dec 29: In every platform the Andaman and Nicobar Administration mentions that Tourism is the main industry in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Despite best efforts this year entire tourism industry is experiencing slow down in Tourism business.
Lack of focus, Administration’s apathy, clear vision and mismanagements are said to be the reasons behind this.
The Wandoor beach, which was once a must-go beach for all tourists in Andaman, now is losing its sheen.
Although a massive parking area has been made at the entry point of the beach but other than that there are hardly any facilities available for tourists.
Some huts were made for tourists and visitors long back but those huts are also in horrible shape. Even the hut for the police jawans needs urgent attention. A toilet made for visitor is in horrible shape.
Most importantly swimming is still banned at Wandoor beach which leaves tourists totally upset.
The only thing which catches eyes of all visitors, is that the beach has been turned into a massive garbage bin and there is no one to clean the beach and the surrounding areas.
Several heaps of garbage can be seen unattended and kept since last several months at the beach.
Looking at the beach one can understand how serious the Administration is towards Prime Minister’s Swatchh Bharat Abhiyan and also about promoting Andaman Tourism.
