Port Blair, Dec 29: Altogether, twelve contractual Assistant Professors of Andaman College are under tremendous stress as they are facing a lot of hardships to run their daily chores. Some Professors are even finding it difficult to reach the College as they don’t have money to even manage their daily travelling expenses.
Non- disbursement of salary to all the twelve Assistant Professors since last three months is the reason behind their struggle.
“We are just told to continue the task and neither have we have been served with any extension order,” said an Assistant Professor maintaining secrecy.
A top level source in the Andaman College told Andaman Sheekha that several times the file of the Assistant Professors was sent for extension but for some or the other reasons it was sent back.
“I have dragged my house owner for these 03 months and if I won’t pay the rent this month, I will not have a roof to stay,” said another professor on the condition of anonymity.
The Assistant Professors are now ‘walking on a razor’s edge’. The bureaucrats must stop foot dragging and take a call before any unwanted incident takes place like it happened few years back, when a contractual employee of AIDs Control Society committed suicide because he was not paid with his salary for months.
Meanwhile, the sources in ANCOL told Andaman Sheekha that from the end of ANCOL necessary file movement was done on time but the file is struck somewhere in Secretariat.
