Port Blair, Dec 15: The work of laying top surface of Andaman Trunk Road stretch, between Jirkatang and Middle Strait was completed last year and within a year the said surface has developed numerous potholes. In many places the top surface has suffered heavy damages and hence the journey between Jirkatang and Middle Strait has become bumpy once again.
Since last many years public were waiting for completion of road laying work from Ferrargunj to Jirkatang and when the work has finally started the road between Jirkatang and Middle Strait has developed potholes. It seems that Islanders will never get smooth ATR.
This is high time for the NHIDCL to conduct an inspection of the ATR stretch between Jirkatang and Middle Strait and direct the concerned contractor for maintaining the same road on regular basis so that public gets what they deserve.
