Port Blair, Dec 15: A delegation of South Andaman Teachers’ Branch of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association led by Shri T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary & Shri P.Jay Murthy, Vice President recently met the Secretary(Education), A & N Administration and submitted a memorandum on various long pending issues pertaining to the teachers working under the Directorate of Education. The issues included (i) Regularization of ad-hoc period of teachers from their initial date of appointment (ii) Shortage of basic infrastructural facilities in government schools (iii) Delay in posting of regular Heads in schools (iv) Denial of permission to acquire Higher Education for teachers (v) Delay in promotion of various categories of teachers etc. The Secretary (Education) after hearing to the issues assured of taking suitable action to resolve the matter. The delegation included Shri R.S.Pillai, Asst. Gen. Secretary, Shri S.L.Vinjit, Shri Sasi Kumar and Shri P.Srinivasa Rao.
